ESSER III, the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund grant program authorized under American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act, provides additional money for districts to prevent, prepare for and respond to COVID-19.
On December 6, the U.S. Department of Education approved 95% of Wisconsin's state ESSER III plan. Districts must provide opportunities for stakeholders to meaningfully and substantively contribute to the ESSER III Plan.
The first opportunity is to provide feedback on the Safe Return to In-Person and Continuity of Services Plan. Upon receiving input from our stakeholders, this plan will go to the Board of Education for approval on January 10, 2022. UPDATE: The Board approved the plan on January 10, 2022. This plan will be reviewed every six months.
Listening sessions were held on April 27 and May 4 for community input. The presentation can be found here. The ESSER III plan will be presented to the Board of Education for adoption on June 13, at the monthly board meeting. The deadline for submission is June 30.
The Allowed Activities tab directs you to a document provided by the Department of Public Instruction that assists the district in planning and preparing for the ESSER funding. ESSER funds may only be spent on costs that prepare for, prevent or respond to COVID-19. This document will be informative when attending the listening sessions.
